Fashion Brands Shouldn't Surcharge For Plus Sizes | KNOWSTYLE

As women, we can agree that shopping (itself) can be a challenge.

We are constantly trying to find clothes that fit right, accentuate your curves, and give you a little boost of confidence. However, sometimes we are just out of luck and we can’t find ANYTHING to wear.

So, this is where online shopping (e-commerce shopping) can really help us because it enables us to shop from anywhere (literally). If you like a top or shorts that you see online which is sold in France, you can pay that extra $20.00 international shipping charge and have it shipped to you right in front of your door.

However, I was reading a fashion article published by Yahoo News about Fashion Brands Accused of Charging More for Plus-Size Clothing. To summarize this article, the author Marie-Claire Dorking wrote about how a lifestyle and fashion blogger named BeckyBedBug was browsing through a prominent online retail store, ASOS.com and spotted a price difference of a product. The regular size dress cost around $32 and plus size cost around $46. That is more than $12 dollars difference (Is ASOS.com asking plus-size people to skip lunch one day and purchase a dress?)

You can also read screenshots of tweets between Beckybedbug and ASOS.com here.

As an employee at an E-Commerce Business such as KnowStyle, I spoke to my colleagues about this matter. We all agree that it is shameful for companies to charge more for plus size clothing because everyone has different body shapes. So, is it necessary for clothing companies to charge differently for the discrepancy between the two sets of figures?

We don’t think so.

“The average American woman weighs 166.2 pounds, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention,” published by The Washington Post.

We understand that companies have to use more fabric in order to produce bigger clothes for plus size women, but that means we should be charging extra for every size: Small, Medium, and Large. I believe in equality and as a woman who shops online frequently, I don’t think it is ethical to surcharge people for the product in a bigger size.

With that being said, KnowStyle is working towards releasing plus size clothing products and we are also conscious about selling clothes that would fit all body types (for the same price). In the meantime, we found some items for you below that are very versatile!

fall-2016-bell-dress-for-sale

cheap-off-the-shoulder-midi-dress

Off the shoulder outfits are very trendy right now, and we decided to combine it with a bodycon dress! This dress comes in black and red. I think this fits all body types because it is stretchy and really hugs your body. You can wear some Spanx under the dress, so your body looks nice and smooth.

sweater-dress-on-sale

What do you think of this classy dress? It is also a bodycon shape dress, but it hugs your body and it is very stretchy. I love the knit material and the stripes because it actually makes you look slimmer and taller. You can buy it at KnowStyle for $39.99. What I really love about this dress is that you can wear it to work with a jacket or you can wear it out to a happy hour event!

off-the-shoulder-olive-dress

If you are one of those short girls, this is the perfect dress for you. It is very loose, so we found a waist belt to show off some curves. This off the shoulder dress is very soft and comfortable. I think this is going to be a hit this fall, especially if you wear it with some high-heel boots! Yes or no?

casual-vest-on-sale-summer

I love love love vests because it always completes a simple outfit. You can wear a simple dress or just a tank top and jeans/shorts and Tada! A vest can change the whole persona. Not to mention, it is a article of clothing that can be worn by anyone (well, as long as YOU like the style). Like the vest? Buy it here!

Golfing Can Be A Challenge (Sometimes), But You Know What Isn’t?

Golfing Can Be A Challenge (Sometimes), But You Know What Isn’t?

FASHION (Duh).

Hey #KShotties, I wanted to update you on my super exciting boring life.

I developed an interest in golfing (after you know, the hottie Jordan Spieth won the 2015 PGA tour), so I decided to take a mini trip to Top Golf in West Midtown with some of my #BAEs Brooke (IG @Brookenevels ), Tracy (IG @tracyelizabeth18 ), and Casey (IG @liljonesyyy).

I thought it would be a great time to write a blog post because I absolutely SUCK
at golf, but socializing, eating and “pretending” to be the best golf player is always FUN. If you haven’t tried Top Golf’s Mushi (Mexican Sushi), you are MISSING OUT!! They are so creamy, savory and D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S. It literally melts in your mouth (besides the soft tortilla shell).

Is it just me, or does Georgia weather have a mind of its own? It was freezing outside, so I decided to bundle up in my new fashionable jacket. I love this jacket because it is mostly black and white and it has an accent of nude near my shoulders. When you look at the picture below, you see that the jacket has a collar, but it tends to flap back and forth (it has a mind of its own as well!!).

The gold zippers on the pocket and collar make the jacket very luxurious. The only thing that I wasn’t happy with the jacket was the flappy collar. I like my collars to stay popped (throw back to the Abercrombie and Fitch days), but I figured out a brilliant idea to keep them in place. Use a small safety pin or sew it on… and… TADA!

Some of you #KShotties may like the flappy-ness, but I said “No, thank you.”

Oh, and I forgot to mention, we met Atlanta Hawks Basketball Player Dennis Schröder

Skinny Body vs. Curvy Body (and how to embrace your body)

Skinny Body vs. Curvy Body (and how to embrace your body)

In the 1950’s, the famous sex symbol Marilyn Monroe set the trend of embracing voluptuous curves and exceptionally skinny waists.

After the millennium, the new body trend shifted from glorified curves to the almost-anorexic-small-chested-model-lookin’ bods. According to odysseyonline, the writer said that slender bodies became admiring after late 1950's because

“What women needed was to be seen as tough, confident, and capable members of society that had the ability to do anything. With straighter lines and muscular tones, it was easy to see why losing weight would spark the idea that skinny equals capable, because this body structure is very similar to that of males.”

As social media continues to play a prevalent role in society, there has been a controversial issue of which is better, Skinny or Curvy?

The only answer I have for you is: BOTH.

Whether you have that slender beach body or that sexual curvaceous body, just absolutely hate EMBRACE it!! :)

With fashion trends consistently changing over the years, you can flatter your body with certain styles, outfits, and best of all, that expresses your personality and individuality.

We got you covered #KShotties.
